Life at the Poles

Few places on Earth test your spirit like the North Pole and the South Pole. I’ve been fortunate to support science at all three United States research stations in Antarctica — McMurdo, South Pole, and Palmer — and at a research station deep within the Arctic Circle. Each location brought its own extremes: endless sunlight or darkness, brutal cold, breathtaking beauty, and a sense of isolation that few ever experience. Whether assisting with climate research, marine science, logistics, or day-to-day operations, I am proud to have played a small role in the larger mission of understanding these critical and fragile environments. These remote and challenging places taught me resilience, awe, and a deep respect for the human pursuit of understanding.
